New Start & Re-Entry Program

For those who have been incarcerated in Kitsap County Jail, or incarcerated elsewhere but currently reside in Kitsap County

New Start is a voluntary program providing comprehensive substance use disorder treatment and re-entry coordination and support services on-site at the Kitsap County Jail, serving incarcerated adults who are experiencing substance use disorders and need referral to the appropriate level of care for SUD treatment. New Start also provides comprehensive assessment and treatment. Priority is given to veterans, pregnant women, IV drug users, people with drug-related criminal histories, and those exiting jail into homelessness.

Continuing care treatment, vocational services, and supportive transitional housing are also provided for up to nine months after participants exit the jail as a part of our Re-Entry Program. In addition, New Start and its community partner programs provide a safety net of services that support mental and physical health, justice and legal aid, housing, transportation, education, and more.
